Undertaking case note audits of missed SGA cases will assist DHBs in reviewing their fetal growth assessment processes and service provision.
The aim for each case is to identify:
- Why the SGA was missed (if possible).
- If there are any individual training issues, scanning resources, inconsistent use of growth assessment programme/SGA guideline.
The aim for the overall audit is to:
- Identify themes/system issues.
- Inform and focus service provision.
- Provide evidence on local needs and issues to inform improved service provision e.g. scan accuracy.
